A Love for Puerto Rico That Never Left
Born in Puerto Rico, Mariel Barreto spent 32 years living in the States, but her heart was always back on the island. She missed Puerto Rico every single day—the beauty, the people, the culture, the food, the music, and the feeling of being home.
In August 2021, Mariel made the decision to return home for good. Her lifelong love for Puerto Rico, combined with her passion for sharing its beauty with others, inspired her to become a nationally certified tour guide in Puerto Rico and to create Mariex Adventures.
Today, Mariel is passionate about showing visitors the Puerto Rico she has always loved—not just the popular attractions, but the breathtaking beaches, rivers, waterfalls, hiking trails, local culture, hidden gems, and special places that make the island so unique.
As a mother and grandmother, Mariel knows how important it is to create meaningful experiences and memories that last a lifetime. Her goal is to make every guest feel welcomed, cared for, and connected to the island.
